| It don’t think “edgy” has anything to do with it. (Sweeney Todd was filmed for PBS for the 2ND time more than 20 years ago, Indecent was filmed 5 years ago, etc.). Rather, I strongly suspect that it’s because of the two shows, one of them, like it or not, and no matter what many people felt about it, is going down in the books as a poorly-reviewed and poorly-attended flop that closed a month before it was scheduled to, and the other is a critically praised adaptation of a Pulitzer-winning play (one which wasn’t filmed), and a production that had barely an empty seat for its entire run, with some people still trying to get in to see it. |
