| Would waste their time writing a musical without the rights. My guess is the Merrick agreement did not completely tie up the rights for the entire copyright period especially since the sugar was a decade after the movie or these new producers paid who owns the rights to sugar and the movie rights (studio and/or billy wilder estate) to sub license. |
