But a lot of people who were young in the 1990s will always think it did. Just as a lot of people who were young in the 1960s will always think that Hair did. And a lot of people who were young in the 1970s will always think A Chorus Line did. And a lot of people who were young in the 1980s will always think that Cats or Phantom or take-your-pick did. You get the idea.
No art form is ever "changed forever" by a single phenomenon. Artists all stand on each other's shoulders: They build on what their predecessors have done, and their successors in turn build on what they have done. |
