The set designs are a great, joyous, satirical, sumptuous tribute to the show’s era and to design itself as a central element of performance.
I think the show has become better as it goes.
And it is SOOOO theatre-y!
As fun and smart as the scripts are, and as frantically-paced, it takes something for the actors to navigate the blindered qualities of their characters, but they are all getting better and better at being both farcical and grounded in reality, with Alex Borstein leading the pack.
The whole show is a great lesson in archetypical theatrical styles like farce and satire. |
