| I don't have a good sense of how large Diamond's fan base is. He's been extremely successful - if I counted correctly, he has had 13 Top 10 hits in the US and another 12 that hit the Top 20, plus songs he wrote that were hits for others like "I'm a Believer" or "Red Red Wine." But his last Top 10 was in 1982, so 40 years ago. And I don't know if he's really had that personal connection where people feel like he is the soundtrack to their lives like some feel with Alanis Morissette or Carole King. He's stayed out of the tabloids but maybe that's a sign that his personal life isn't all that dramatic (which is good for him but maybe bad for a show based on his life). |
