| I seem to recall Streisand saying she consciously tried not watching or listening to Fanny Brice when she got the role in "Funny Girl" so as not to imitate her. The real Brice was a very fine singer too, but they just fortunately let Streisand do her own thing. They kind of helped Streisand by not having a Baby Snooks number or scene in "Funny Girl", where I think folks might have expected something more akin to an imitation. In the movie sequel "Funny Lady" I think there is just a brief glimpse of Streisand in Snooks' outfit after a radio performance before a live audience. |
