| Tom Bosley was below the title in Fiorello! -- by putting Bosley in the featured category in 1960, a head-to-head competition between Bosley and Jackie Gleason was avoided. Both had gotten raves for their respective performances. Bosley's reviews were thought to be stronger by some in the print media (which supposedly riled Gleason). Robert Dhery was solo billed above the title for La Plume de Ma Tante, but was nominated for Outstanding Supporting or Featured Musical Actor as part of a group nomination of the show's male actors in 1959 (according to the Morrow Tony Award Book). |
