Totally subjective of course. I certainly registered what seemed like flaws in the productions but the three central performances were so moving and strong that I looked the other way at the stuff I thought was iffy. It still remains my favourite of all the Merrily's I've seen (Donmar, Encores!, Menier).
Hopeful for the NYTW iteration although wondering why a theatre of its standing isn't doing its own production with a new director? Like Funny Girl, it feels kinda late in the day to drag these productions back to life. |
