Are you using playbillvault to find the opening-night playbill? If so, there is no assurance that what you are seeing is the opening-night playbill unless I am missing something. Forgive me if you are already aware of this and that is not your source. And a few months ago they stopped labeling them as being from opening night, unless I am not seeing something. I would like to believe that the email I sent them months ago listing several playbills that were clearly not from opening night and suggesting that they should be careful not to label playbills as being from opening night unless they were from opening night, or at least opening week, had something to do with that, but I doubt it. One that I mentioned was the West Side Story playbill for the original run. That one is from at least 10 months into the run as the Anita is Muriel Bentley, the third Anita, who took over just about exactly 10 months into the run.

I dislike the new format. The old format was better, but I am glad that they no longer label all the playbills as being from opening night.

Of course, many are from opening night or thereabout. The further back you go in time, the more often they are from later in the run (not a surprise). With playbills from the period when the week was listed on the title page, it is easy to tell, at least if you check the opening date. Other times it is not as easy, but with some, like West Side Story, it is, to put it mildly, obvious.

Having said all that, the earliest playbills I can find for La Plume de ma Tante list Dhery above the title. In fact, all the playbills I can find from when he was in the show list him alone above the title. So I think he was probably above the title from the start.
