No offense taken, I knew you were joking. I only brought it up because AlanScott referred to it.

I assume that Dhery was solo billed above the title because he wrote and directed the show as well as performed in it as part of the ensemble. The Tonys made the right call by honoring the entire cast with 2 group nominations for featured performers, separate nominations based on gender, unlike the ridiculous decision the following year to include the 2 males, William Snowden and Joseph Stewart, in a group nomination for best featured actress for The Sound of Music. Can you imagine the ribbing those 2 young guys got from their peers in school and other male friends?

La Plume de Ma Tante was actually the biggest hit show of its season and (I believe) the cast appeared twice on The Ed Sullivan Show, performing the bell-ringer skit. I remember seeing it on TV and how hysterically funny it was both times. Years later it was re-staged with a different cast for some TV variety special. Unfortunately the new version, which used to be on YouTube, was amusing but not as laugh out loud hilarious.

Pre-pandemic, plans were announced by Chris Jones in the Chicago Tribune for all the Broadway skits from the Sullivan show to be released on DVD. However, I have not seen any update since the initial announcement a couple of years ago. That material is priceless.
