| For what it's worth, I have definitely had broadway box office people say exactly what you wrote out to sound unfair to expect them to say. That doesn't mean they're *responsible* for inaccurate information given to them by producers, but it does mean what you wrote out isn't so crazy. And I agree with whomever said that at this point in the run, it's not crazy to expect that they know more about the seats than they might have when sales first started in person. But it is for sure the producers fault, for dictating to box office that these seats are to be sold as full-view seats. However it sounds like, in the details of the OP's account, that this box office person didn't just say "they are sold as full view, that's all I know, but yes they are extreme side, but I don't personally know the actual view" (i have 100% been told this by a B.O. person before), but instead received the detailed question and confirmed 100% as if they knew, without doubt. That's above and beyond just giving the line the producers gave them. And if it is what the producers insisted they say to make that sale at that price, shame on everyone. But also... as sales *representatives* for the producers, part of their job, besides functionally giving the information and processing the ticket sale, is to be the mouth of the producers to the customer, and to take any complaints and feedback about the reality of the pricing etc. Everyone should be 100% respectful when complaining or demanding a refund etc, but the box office people should also be prepared to receive the unhappy feedback from customers and communicate that to producers so this stuff can be changed going forward (if the producers have any interest in changing it -- and if not they should prepare the box office for that, and if they don't want to change it or let them explain that those tickets are actually obstructed to customers, then they're putting their staff in an uncomfortable position because customers ARE being misled and WILL be angry.) |
