| I have liked Richard Thomas onstage in every thing I've seen him in--from "Fifth of July" (where he replaced Cristopher Reeve and, by all accounts, brought more depth and range--RIP, Mr. Reeve, who was a likable and affable actor and a man of courage I admire) to his (for me) revelatory Horace in the most recent Broadway revival of "The Little Foxes." I really didn't have a desire to see TKAM again onstage (I know it's new adaptation, but, as someone who has studied Southern lit, the novel, as much as I loved it in my youth, has an ambivalent status these days)--but I would seek it to see Thomas. I enjoy seeing him in reruns of The Waltons on MeTV and am struck by how subtle and nuanced his acting is on that show--which I loved in my childhood, but thought may have not aged well (it holds up reasonably well, I think). |
