I think this is true in previous productions of Company but here she does sing the song to Bobbi and it has real implications. Bobbi knows the song could be her if she keeps going down the path of meaningless relationships and makers mark. Joanne is a lady who lunches and Bobbi will be too if she’s not careful. And it directly propels her into Being Alive. It’s one of the smartest things about the revival, I think.
