| Why did shows move theaters so much in the past? | |

| Browsing ibdb I've noticed so many shows moved during their run. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. That rarely happens in recent decades but seemed almost the norm back then. Why? Clearing up the better houses for new shows and moving the hits to smaller houses as their audiences dwindled? |
