Everything was less expensive!
The MUSIC MAN played its final performance at the Majestic on October 22, 1960 and opened at the Broadway Theater on October 24. One assumes that the lighting and sound rig were installed the week prior - but that still left a lot of scenery to be brought over to the Broadway, and rigged etc. It didnt cost a Million dollars to load in in 1960.
