Sellers on stub hub etc till by thousands of tickets to shows like MUSIC MAN and HAMILTON every time new tix go on sale. There is another practice these parasites (IMHO) still use, although it is indeed illegal. It works like this ... I produced a not smash hit musical on Broadway. We were playing to 60-70% tops. I tool a look on stub hub one day, and they had over 400 tickets on sale for my show for the next week. At double and triple the box office price. I was curious, so I cross referenced with my box office - these tickets were still for sale online and at the box office at regular prices. So that if you were on Stub Hub (more fool you) and said 'Wow, I can get this great seat for only $450!" you would buy it, and then the Stub Hub profiteer would see your purchase, and buy the ticket AFTER you paid him triple the face value for it. The SH Profiteer was taking no risk. ANd if the ticket perchance were already sold, he would just write and tell you gee sorry- how about these tickets instead,

This is still going on. A SH seller will offer you H 105m H 106 for a non sold out show, even though they dont own these tickets - and only acquire them when you pay their extortionate price.

Its crazy. Its not legal. But thats how it works for many shows.
