| At the cost of the producers of “The Audience”? Am I misremembering? The way I remember, “It’s Only a Play” was set for a limited run, with “The Audience” planning to follow it into the Jacobs. Then when “Only a Play” wanted to extend, it hoped to stay put, of course, and the request was that “The Audience” go into the Schoenfeld instead. Producers of “The Audience” refused, preferring the Jacobs, so “Only a Play” moved to the Schoenfeld. If that’s the case, I can’t imagine it’s true that the producers of “The Audience” had to pay for that move. They had contracted for the Jacobs already and publicly announced. |
