But it's foolish. I don't think most people seeing Funny Girl are going to see the weight of the show more evenly distributed. The audience wants a powerhouse star as a singer and an actor with personality and range as Fanny... if you don't cast someone who can be that, then you maybe have cast the wrong person.
I used My Fair Lady before, but this time I'll say that it's like doing Gypsy and putting Rose, Herbie, June and Louise and Tulsa above the title. It's not going to change what is actually in the show or what audiences are coming expecting.
