the original version is perfection for introducing Desiree, and for that part of the show.
I think Fredrika's Glamorous Life is a stunning song and I would love for it to find a place in the show. I wonder if it could be done before Desiree's... before we meet Desiree at all, and lead into Desiree's version. Or if after Desiree's version, it could be fit in after "Every Day a Little Death", just before Desiree arrives at her mother's house. I think that could be a great place for it. But I don't think either version is done any favors by splicing them together. I've heard an audio recording of it from the London production and I do agree with Sondheim. |
