You could even add Zorba to their list of shows that Tony might have shown more love, though that was a highly competitive year (and I'll probably win no friends here by admitting I would have given Best Score to Hair).
Mein Herr and Money Money are sensational production numbers, but the songs themselves haven't had the shelf lives of great songs. I'm not knocking them, but I can see how they were not nominated for Oscars. New York, New York and The World Goes Round, though, are terrific songs and There Goes The Ball Game is quite good, too. All were worthy of nominations and New York, New York should have walked off with the award. |
