You seem to know the show pretty well, so I'm curious what you think they are, or others who do... because for me, the score is nearly wall to wall good to great songs. I mean they won't all work outside the show but...

Also Queenie doesn't have any "my man don't love me" ballads. She has two ballads, perhaps poorly placed back to back, about her relationship and choices and circumstance, specifically "He's No Good" when she's sitting in jail, and "I'm Leaving You". I personally think they're both wonderful.

I admit I don't like "Check It Out" which I think is not really a song, but also is kind of silly though I can absolutely see why they wrote it and thought it worked...
I'll give you "Hooker's Ball", though I find it to be a solid number for what they wanted in the plot, but isn't a great song and is definitely a weird part of the plot and the tonal difficulty of the show for an audience. "Mr. Greed" is also solid but not a favorite of mine... but not the head scratcher that "hooker's ball" and "check it out" might be seen as.
Every other song I think it fantastic. Even "We Gotta Go" isn't the greatest writing but it serves its purpose. There are many far weaker scores.

But I "true head scratcher" is not something I'd apply to the songs.
