Chazwaza, I guess you’re right that mostly “Hookers Ball” as an individual song is probably the “what we’re they thinking” song.
But I also think ending the show with three emotionally downbeat numbers “Someday' is for Suckers" / "We Gotta Go" / "My Friend" feels out of place from much of the other material. Or maybe it’s that songs like People Magazine, Hookers Ball and Easy Money belong in a different show than those final songs.
But rather than debate the merits of this or that song, it’s nice to know there’s another admirer out there. My general point was I enjoy so much of the music that I’m glad it’s getting another glance. 12 Tony nominations back when that was a really impressive haul. 2 wins for Lillias White and Chuck Cooper. There’s a lot to like in this somewhat mixed bag. |
