| ''West Side Story's'' Ariana DeBose won Best Supporting Actress from both BAFTA and the Critics Choice awards. (Next stop: Oscars on March 27.) ''West Side Story'' also won for Sarah Broshar and Michael Kahn's Editing at Critics Choice and Cindy Tolan for Best Casting at BAFTA. Also at Critics Choice, HBO's version of ''Oslo'' won Best TV Movie, beating out, among others, ''Come From Away'' on Apple TV+. Plus, Critics Choice gave a Lifetime Achievement Award to Billy Crystal. In accepting it, Crystal pointed out that he's turning 74 on March 14, and is about to open a new musical, ''Mr. Saturday Night,'' on Broadway. He said: ''I can't remember when I've worked harder or had more fun.'' Back at BAFTA, Rebel Wilson was hosting the festivities, and it's a riot how she seldom passes up a chance to make fun of ''Cats.'' She played Jennyanydots in the critically savaged 2019 movie of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical. Wilson said: ''Tonight we are really celebrating because all of these iconic British films have their milestones. 60 years of James Bond. 20 years of Harry Potter. 3 years of 'Cats.' '' Wilson added: ''Don't worry. I'm not going to sing [tonight]. I'm saving my voice for the sequel to 'Cats.' '' |
