I have NO problem with being more sensitive with a revival when the occasion warrants it. There is a lot in the canon that has casual (or overt) racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc written directly into the book, and if it needs to be revised, cut (or simply not performed) that's OK with me. But this is an example of a cut that seemed to have no actual thought behind it. It defangs the section, it doesn't make it more empathetic. It would be like restoring "she isn't a meeskite at all" to "If You Could See Her." What is the point? Just cut the number then if you are afraid to use the actual punchline.
