Roth also played Gert in 70, Girls, 70 in 1971 on Broadway. If my memory is correct, she made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson during the run of Wholesale and, I believe, another one some years later when her performing career had stalled. She had featured roles in a couple of movies before she passed away in 1980.
When she did interviews on TV in the later years of her life, I was struck at the sadness that seemed apparent in her facial expressions. She didn't seem like a happy person.
