I honestly cannot think of a single example of a director doing a revivial of a work that they mounted originally---whether it be a replica of the original or a reimagining---and it being very good. And I can think of several examples that are not very good.
That said, I love Grand Hotel, and Tommy Tune, and I would love to see a revival of Grand Hotel not directed by Tommy Tune. Although I woudn't mind "in the style of" Mr Tune, a la Fosee and the Chicago revivial. |
