| He was wonderful on the Britcom "To the Manor Born" opposite Penelope Keith which is sometimes shown on PBS. Rest in peace. | |

| I just discovered To the Manor Born and quickly gobbled up all of its brief seasons. It hardly high art or revolutionary comedy, but I found it a delightful "comfort food" Britcom. All episodes are available on BritBox or Amazon Prime (at least in the US). | |

| He was also wonderful - and cast very against type - as a bank robber in Alan Ayckbourn's 'Man of the Moment' in the West End. It's not Ayckbourn's best play (although it's far from his worst), and it's not a piece that gets revived because there has to be a swimming-pool onstage, but Bowles was very good indeed, and the play's premise is interesting (see link below for a synopsis). | |

| A wonderful, intelligent actor who made it all seem so effortless. He was great also in "Rumpole of the Bailey" - playing the Head of the Legal Chambers, Sir Guthrie Featherstone, Q.C, M.P. He was a joy. |
