Granted, sure. But why are they hiring two of the directors who are some of the most in demand and known directors in NYC?

Also Artistic Director and Director are quite different jobs... they can be interconnected but often aren't, and some of the most acclaimed and successful theaters aren't. The AD of LCT isn't Jack O'Brien or Bart Sher or Graciela Daniele, and never has been. The AD of Roundabout isn't Scott Ellis, etc. Lynn Meadow directs at MTC and elsewhere, but not all that often. I'm not saying a director who is AD of Encores or Off-Center can't or shouldn't take directing work too, I'm saying if they can't do both, if the season has to pause or change or be cancelled to accommodate, then they're the wrong fit at that time for that AD job.

I have to assume that running Encores and even moreso Off-Center is notably less time consuming than those theaters, but also I bet it's a full time job. But still, more of a reason to be bothered that taking a directing gig put the season on hold.

If it even did... I guess I'm putting possibly too much stock in the accuracy of that post.
