| As long as the reasons are about Kauffman's schedule, I am firmly in opposition of them putting the season on hiatus for her or her being employed in this position. Do they not think it's "problematic" to take away 1-3 productions (it's been so long I can't remember how many or normally done for Off-Center) that would employee artists (performers, designers etc) and crew to accommodate and bend around the schedule of one director, a working director ... especially after TWO YEARS of no theater work? Beyond the money it's also taking opportunity and visibility and career growth and exposure away from these artists who would have been employed do this season of Off-Center. It's unfair, irresponsible, and frankly abhorrent... *if* her schedule is the reason or even one of the reasons. |

| But we don't know that's the reason. One person said maybe that was the reason, but we don't actually know, and it is unlikely, because, as you say, it would be incredibly problematic for an institution to cancel 1 - 3 shows simply because the AD was directing a show at the Atlantic... and wouldn't make any sense for their funding model or their profile in the industry. I'd say it's more likely they're having issues with funding or with organization since Jack has left. We've already seen The Lark fall apart once John left, and that was without May driving the institution off a cliff. |
