He was also wonderful - and cast very against type - as a bank robber in Alan Ayckbourn's 'Man of the Moment' in the West End. It's not Ayckbourn's best play (although it's far from his worst), and it's not a piece that gets revived because there has to be a swimming-pool onstage, but Bowles was very good indeed, and the play's premise is interesting (see link below for a synopsis).
