An ATC poster stated that a few years before Encores finally staged it, although who knows if that was an accurate statement. I do recall Viertel insisting many years ago that Encores would do The Golden Apple eventually, and so he did keep his word.
I was told privately by a young staffer in 2011 that because The Golden Apple's score was sung through, more resources were needed before the show could be done or something to that effect. |
