I'd actually forgotten I'd seen him in Shuffle Along. With all those great actors in it he kinda got lost for me. (Brandon Victor Dixon and Adrienne Warren were the ones who stayed with me.)
I think that may be the only time I've seen him live so I want to reiterate my crankiness about him is not an appraisal of his work. It comes from the interviews I've seen him giving over the last few years, after he had become "an icon". This is why I wish I wasn't such a consumer of talk shows :). I'd like to just experience him through his work. (Of course it's within my power to watch or read interviews with him, I admit.) |
