| Donat preferred working in the U.K. instead of in America. He actually did a lot more work on stage in London than film work. However, prior to The 39 Steps, he was quite good in films like The Private Life of Henry VIII and The Count of Monte Cristo. In 1948 he was a superb Sir Robert Morton in the film version of Rattigan's play The Winslow Boy. Unlike the stage version, the film's highlight is the complete trial of Ronnie Winslow. |
