As a fan of both, I'm hoping you're correct. My fear is: Girl from the North Country would have trouble finding an audience in any economic climate. As much as I love the show, I think it's a challenge to market; the Dylan songs tethered to a Depression narrative isn't a quick log line -- not an out of towner's must-see -- and as someone said to me, "It's good, really? It just sounds depressing." That depresses me, but it's not surprising.
Hoping for its return, so that Tony nominations will at least give it the street cred it earned. |
