It's so subjective. ''Great new musicals'' are rare, and frankly, ''Fun Home'' and ''The Band's Visit'' wouldn't make my list.
To me, the most satisfying new musical I've seen of late is Bruce Sussman and Barry Manilow's ''Harmony,'' especially Act II.
It's not perfect, but it's a touching story, beautifully staged. Excellent ensemble, soaring songs and Chip Zien gives a tour de force. |
