A Case for the Existence of God only had its world premiere opening 10 days before voting. Looking back at the voting history, it seems it's mostly been given to fall/winter shows and mostly off-Broadway shows in recent years. I don't know if the rhythm of the Off-Broadway cycle is different from the Broadway one, where the Broadway spring is usually where the most awards-centric plays are premiering.
