My history with Martin McDonagh plays is mixed. I really enjoyed ''The Beauty Queen of Leenane'' and ''The Lieutenant of Inishmore,'' but was baffled and bored by ''The Pillowman'' and ''A Behanding in Spokane.'' For me, ''Hangmen'' - his black comedy about a British executioner - lands more in the latter group. David Threlfall and Alfie Allen were wonderful in their Tony-nominated roles, but there wasn't much of a story there. By the end, McDonagh recycled a plot twist that recalled ''Inishmore,'' and there were plot threads in ''Hangmen'' that were left dangling.
