I noticed that, too. It's odd that the Drama Desk nominated only Ayodele Casel for her tap choreography in ''Funny Girl,'' and ignored Scott.
On the other hand, the Drama Desk not only nominated Bill T. Jones for his choreography on ''Paradise Square,'' but also Garrett Coleman & Jason Oremus (Irish and Hammerstep) and Gelan Lambert & Chloe Davis (associates). By comparison, the Tonys nominated only Jones.
Similarly, the Drama Desk not only nominated Christopher Wheeldon for his choreography on ''MJ the Musical,'' but also Michael Balderrama (associate) and Rich and Tone Taleuega (Michael Jackson Movement). By comparison, the Tonys nominated only Wheeldon.
Generally speaking, the choreography nominations (at the Tonys and Drama Desks) go to the show's principal choreographer. If the Drama Desk is including the associate choreographers to ''Paradise Square'' and ''MJ,'' what about the associate choreographers for the other nominees: Eliza Ohman for ''Six'' and Simone Sault and Richard J. Hinds for ''Company''? (Or Anthony Morigerato, assistant tap choreographer of ''Funny Girl''?)
