I'm saying that, just like the possibility of a mixed-race Raisin in the Sun, we should have have a mixed race Flower Drum Song, King and I, Fiddler, Porgy, etc

Interestingly, for those obsessed with roles being played by culturally-identical actors, for shows with Asian actors, "generic East Asian" seems to be good enough. No one demands that Flower Drum Song be populated solely by Chinese Americans and King and I be filled solely with Thai actors--what hypocrisy is it to believe that all Asians are the same?

What about Otello, which, apparently can only be played now by African American actors, although he's a Moor of either Black African or, more likely, Arab heritage?

Ironically, a crusty artform like opera has been eons ahead of with singers of different races playing every culture. No one bats an eye.

The only way we get used to mixed-race casting is to start doing it.
