How is Ben Platt "too young" to play Leo Frank?

Leo Frank was 31, Ben Platt is 28. He seems like ideal casting. A 30-ish stage/film/TV star raised in the Jewish tradition? On paper more suitable than the 47-year old blond goyim who originated the role (who was a terrific performer but, to my mind, incongruous as Leo Frank.)
