I agree with all of what you say here.
From what I gather, the onerousness was exacerbated by a process (during what I referred to as the fiefdom) that I recall more than one former nominator describe to me as absurdly demanding beyond just going to see shows.
I don't have a problem with freelancers. My issue is with folks (many of them wonderful people) who are either self-appointed critics writing what are essentially blogs, often with minimal audiences, or non-critics who somehow glommed onto these committees. Anyway, it is what it is. or isn't. |
