I agree, and that makes me think she is not going to be there in person or by live video. If she's only there by pre-taped video, I can see them putting that in the first hour.
One thing I am finding a bit confusing is that I would have thought, with a four-hour show, there would be a lengthy, star-studded Sondheim tribute. But there's been nothing in the publicity about the show that indicates that. The only performers outside the nominated shows appear to be the New York Men's Gay Chorus, which is in the first hour, Bernadette Peters, Spring Awakening, and Billy Porter. No announcement of "special guests and surprises." I think Sondheim would have to be acknowledged in the main show, which I guess is coming from Peters. But I expected more. |
