Those were braids. Joaquina Kalukango also sported them. They are a common hairstyle among Black women, though both Porter and Kalunkango went the extra mile in terms of height and design.
I thought Porter chose a rather subdued tux by his standards, and he brought the appropriate gravitas. I think the camera could have cut to him less, as I'm sure there were enough people who passed this year that were left out, but I thought he did his job well. |
