A few observations.
1. Yes the optics were terrible, but they reflect the cluelessness we have come to expect from the League.
2. That said, the protocol is completely consistent with what's being done in Broadway houses.
3. As I have said any number of times, the mask mandate in theatres is about marketing, not safety. So long as producers think they will sell more tickets with mandates than without, we will continue to have mandates.
4. Anyone taking a train or plane to see a Broadway show is likely already experienced in sitting next to someone who is not wearing a mask.
5. When the ratings come out, they will confirm that there are not a lot of people for whom what happened on the TV tonight will have no meaning because very few people who don't know the mask rule saw it and few of those few noticed. |
