Not sure that there is a need for a revival- Sutton Foster did do a production at Signature (?) only a few years ago- but Ariana DeBose is a good choice and there is precedent for a non-white triple threat new(ish)comer to go from playing Anita to Charity (Chita and Debbie both did it very successfully).
I'd go :).
Personally I'd love to see a less-than-gorgeous Charity: someone quirkier and less polished. The trouble is that because there's not a lot of opportunities for less-than-gorgeous women in musical theatre, there aren't a lot of average-looking triple threats. |
