One would guess stage it creatively. Not sure I find a distinction. But having grown up in the south, Georgia and Virginia, I can make a case for the accuracy of an Asian spouse to a tobacco exec. Even though it's not required to justify the casting. I lived in a DC suburb, and two families on my street had Asian-American mothers, one of whom was my mother's closest friend; we later visited them in Pensacola when they moved away. Again, the historical accuracy isn't a goal, but in this case, it's very midcentury appropriate. |
