Not really, William F. Buckley was the father of a conservatism that has been destroyed and nearly erased by Trumpism. And one that by 1965 when the debate occurred was largely attempting to accommodate itself to the black civil rights movement, perhaps not in full good faith but I think partially.

It's funny, Baldwin's performance in the debate is magnificent and new generations of viewers continue to be excited by it. But what seems more relevant to me at this moment is the destruction of Buckley's idea of conservatism and its replacement by Goldwater libertarianism and white nationalism.
