| Not only recent, but hardly under-appreciated, or with a score that has not been lovingly and beautifully preserved on the OBCR. It even got a poorly selling first national tour because enough people in charge of making that happen cared about the art of it. But not everyone thinks doing old/forgotten/unappreciated/undocumented show should be, or is, Encores! mission. I am actually not sure if that IS the mission anymore, either explicitly or implicitly. Personally I jump at any chance to see Piazza. I miss sophisticated original scores. I worship at the feet of Ruthie Ann Miles--I won't even admit how many times I paid full price to see Here Lies Love. I'm curious about the score in her voice. All said though, my gosh I wish they would circle back to Love Life, a show that has no recording and will never likely get another commercial production...as Piazza no doubt will someday. |
