| Three shows I worked on closed on January 4, 2009 after the post housing-bubble-bursting holiday season - Tony winners Hairspray (opened 8/15/02) and Boeing-Boeing (opened 5/4/08), and a tourist-crowd-pleasing Grease revival (opened 8/19/07). I doubt this was a coincidence; producers were hesitant to keep them open and lose money if their ticket sales softened. |
