| I almost responded to your post yesterday. I must have got distracted and not done it--sorry! I've never noticed any significant drop in the number of Broadway productions, nor in ticket sales or ticket prices, during any recent recession, including the big one that began in 2007-08. I suspect that the core Broadway audience is sufficiently well off as to be largely recession-proof when it comes to purchases of a couple of hundred bucks or less. A severe recession may close a struggling production a little earlier than would have been the case without the recession, but otherwise Broadway production seems to go on about as usual. |
